New UI is nightmarish to read, especially on compact.
Couple of things that stick out to me:
1. The line spacing is atrocious. It always kind of was, but the divider lines made it readable. Now it's a mess. My OCD is ringing alarm bells ten ways from Sunday.
2. With the above loss of the divider lines, there not being timestamps next to every message kind of screws with my visual perception of line starts.
3. The only thing that makes usernames different from the rest of the line in compact is bolding and color. This is already kind of hard to read with just that, but in DMs, names are only bolded. It's borderline unreadable.
I think there are a lot of other changes I haven't noticed that are bothering me. It definitely makes me a little nauseous.
Thanks for reading my feedback. I hope you all can fix this soon; I use discord every day, and I'm really having trouble even looking at the client right now. I agree with everyone else who's said this is worse than the usual "oh, the UI is different;" I'm actively feeling bad looking at the UI. This is not something that will get fixed after an adjustment period. So I really hope I can go back to using discord without worry soon ;;

You can actually change the text spacing in appearance option though.
And yeah that timestamp is annoying for the eyes. (as well as that emoticon hover)-3 -
Changing the spacing doesn't help a lot, because the breaks end up looking really weird and arbitrary. It's hard to explain well. Setting the break to the same size as the font helps at least a little, but it's still really disorienting---especially when people are having conversations, and each person is sending only one or two messages, but it's not consistent. It just feels really off in a way that's extremely difficult to explain. I feel like it defies conventions about displaying text that I never knew existed until now.

I'm right there with you. The spacing and lack of dividers is awful, and it's been really hard on my head that happens to also be bad today. It's been making me feel really disoriented and mildly nauseated, and combined with my headache, I think I would've just skipped using Discord today if it wasn't the primary way I communicate at the moment. I really hope they pay any attention and listen before we all have to flee in droves to some other platform. There are others out there. If I had any experience with coding and managing large projects, I'd just make one myself. And make sure to listen to the userbase, and not just make a bunch of stupid changes for no reason whatsoever.

I'm completely in agreement. The old way also made it easy to copy and paste blocks of text if I needed to refer back to it. Doing it with the new UI is just a complete nightmare now. It's really disorienting and I cannot figure out where the new text is.
