New UI Suggestions (Im not just going to hate on it)
So, everybody seems to absolutely hate the UI... But, what could you do to improve it?
1. Add an option to turn on/off emojis on the bar
2. Add an option to edit the emojis on the bar, instead of them being recently used ones
I think the emojis are based off of the recently used emojis
Maybe this could be server-wide or you could set it to be server-specific?
3. Add quote & delete message next to the add reaction button
I mean, i quote and delete messages WAY more than being the first to add a reaction
4. Add an option to change the space between messages
Most people got used to the small spaces between messages, and now you've changed it without giving us a choice...
5. Move the bar next to the user's name, instead of being on the side
I find myself usually having my mouse in the middle of the screen, instead of being all the way over on the side. This would make it faster to use
Alternatively, there could be an option to move it
6. Make the colour on hovering messages brighter
Right now, it's very different to the background of Discord, and honestly, it looks a bit bad
7. Add back auto-scroll
It was pointless to remove it, it wasn't really annoying anybody
8. Fix right clicking VS using the menu
EX:
Menu
Right Click
9. Add a toggle on/off for lines between messages
I just think it was better with lines, but some people think it wasn't
10. Add a toggle between old and new "New Message" bar
I know people who really like the new one and thing its modern, and then I know others who think it's atrocious and unnecessary. Personally, i don't mind it but some people are completely against it.
11. Give us an option to switch between new and old UI
Not everybody likes the new UI, and if you don't add any of these, AT LEAST let us switch to the old one that everybody
I will be editing and adding more as I think of things

This is the most comprehensive feedback I've seen so far!
I also made a post about the "auto-scroll" and how it impacts moderation. I agree that there's many changes that should happen, but I personally feel that the inability to see new messages while not constantly in the program is the worst offender; this goes especially for moderators of decently large servers/chats that move fast.4 -
Auto-scroll? Is that about it scrolling to bottom when new message arrives when you are scrolled back? That was an obnoxious thing for a while and that's what "Jump to Present" thing could be used for.
Anyway, nice feedback yeah and well put. However, just a point about #3: The Delete button on hover can be dangerous. I keep being cautious when hovering Friend list because the Delete button all there. Destructive actions shouldn't be one-click away (even if they will trigger a confirmation popup). In fact, for a couple times I accidentally started a call with a random people in Friend list due to misclicking that button -_-

Sorry! I should rephrase.
When I leave discord open on a second monitor or generally click on a different program, I used to be able to see every new message. With the addition of the red "new" bar that remains at the top, after around 30-40 messages, all new messages appear below the screen.
This is what I'd see with the new update, aka no auto-scroll:

and here's the chat that was hidden:

Thankfully it was just another patrick, but because it was hidden I could not tell.
***This is detrimental for good moderation***
In short, the blue "50+ new messages since 8:49 am" is gone, and rather than having every new message appear, the oldest "unread" message remains at the top.

@YetAnotherConor
Thanks!@Shadow
Auto-scroll is when you aren't focused on the app and the new messages show up at the bottom. At the moment with the new UI, if you have discord on another monitor and aren't focused on it, it doesn't scroll down when people send new messages, defeating the purpose of having it on another monitor to read mesaages2 -
i agree with everything here, the ability to have it toggleable fixes the debate above, by the way

@YetAnotherConnor @Euros Ah, alright. I thought it would scroll to bottom (newest message) whenever a new one arrived while you are scrolled up through chat history. That had happened on past and was pretty annoying then got me worried a bit. In this case, if you are scrolled all the bottom (at the latest message) and it doesn't scroll when new ones arrive then yeah, agreed.
