New Discord Design is Worse
The latest Discord design is considerably worse than its previous iteration (on pc).
1. The CSS used indicate that a message is new is all the way on the rightmost part of the application. Not only is it hard to read in terms of alignment, but also the NEW font-size is too small when considering the kerning of the text given the fact that it is in bold font-weight.
2. The friends tab is also harder to read now. When you're on the tab, the text that indicates what section you are looking at (Online, All, Pending, Blocked) on the top left of the screen and then shows the number of that condition is also too hard to read. It's actually smaller than that font-size of the name of the friends you have which is weird.
3. From a UX standpoint, the Nitro tab that is under the Friends tab is annoying and obstructive to those who've gotten used to the older iterations of Discord. When I click that, I expect to be brought to the Friends tab but it's actually this Nitro tab that serves no other purpose than to waste time for the user.
4. In the chatbox, the space between the most recent post and the message input box is too small, making the overall app seem "tighter" and more packed together while these elements should actually have more space

Couldn't agree more. When I took a graphic design class, there was a heavy emphasis on keeping some space between text and the edge of the page, to avoid causing tension

Yeah, lack of space there is actually kind of annoying for users like me. I have two monitors, my secondary monitor has a considerably small-sized window of the discord app so the spacing issue is a lot worse than if I were have it on full screen. From what I understand, this lack of space isn't just bad practice in graphic design but also in photography. When you want a professional photograph of a person, you want some space around the subject to let the picture "breathe" from the top of the subject to the top-most side. It just makes it harder to read and uncomfortable to use.
