Private channel but visible for all

I have a patreon only channel that I want everyone on the discord to see but not able to read or write to unless then have the correct role. Like the Voice channels they can see but not join. I want none patreon members to see the channel and want to join up so they can also join the patreon only chat. Ive tried all the settings If I set it to read everyone can see the channel and read it, If I set it to read message histry FALSE then they can still read whats going on if they have it open. From what ive searched online this is a feature alot of people have asked for for well over a year now.

    This is exactly the same thing I want to do and I swear when I set it up it asked me if I wanted to make it visible to everyone, but not accessible. Now I can't seem to find it and it's gonna drive me batty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
