Severe Stuttering In Game on New PC

I am getting severe stuttering in any game I play, as long as Discord is running. Brand new PC, specs:

i9-10900

32 GB DDR4-3200

Nvidia RTX 3080

2TB m.2 PCIe SSD

Windows 10 - 64 bit

Asus ROG Strix XG279Q 27" 170 Hz Monitor

I have tested this on Apex Legends, Overwatch, Outriders, League of Legends, Valorant, and Civilization VI. Each of these games is running between 152-220 FPS without Discord running, with 99% FPS being no more than 1 less FPS.

With Discord running, not even in a call, my framerate is dropping to as low as 12 FPS. The 99% FPS is below 45. I can leave the game running, close Discord, and my FPS will move right back to 152+ with 99% 151+. Open Discord, back to sub 20. I used Steam Voice with my group and also tried Skype (please don't make me go back to Skype, I'll beg), neither have this issue. Obviously, going from 150+ FPS on a new 3080 to 12 FPS just from running a support program ain't gonna cut it.

Solutions I have tried:

  1. Adjusting priority of Discord processes, both higher and lower.
  2. Manually added Discord.exe to Nvidia Control Panel -> 3D settings -> forced No V-sync. Also disabled all other video options to off/lowest possible.
  3. Disabled hardware acceleration in Discord.
  4. Disabled Quality of Service High Packet Priority in Discord.
  5. Disabled OpenH264 Video Codec in Discord.
  6. Disabled H264 hardware acceleration.
  7. Disabled all screen share options.
  8. Disabled Streamer Mode, and all related options.
  9. Disabled Discord Overlay, entirely.
  10. Obviously all drivers are up to date, did double check just in case. Windows 10 also fully up to date as well.

Anyone have any thoughts? I see a few posts here and a couple elsewhere that show people have had this issue before, but there never seems to be a solution.

    Try disabling Hardware Acceleration:

    User Settings > Advanced > Hardware Acceleration: Off
