a detailed list of ideas on improved and revamped discord visual experience, with ideas for how things could be rethought.
i have a few ideas. i'll put them in lists, like a top 10. this is a lengthy and detailed description by the way, so it's not gonna be like the average "ewwww fix light theme ur app is trash" complaint. this is an honest description about what could be improved in each aspect of discord's visual experience. i hope you read this discord staff, so please enjoy and think about if this could help. my discord is felfern#0001
1: improved light theme: light theme is nice in some ways, but it could have a few improvements. as the memes say, yes it is aghastly bright. it could take some changes as having slightly dimmer, less contrast with other colors, better blending with icons and borders, and appearing more smooth to the eye.
2: accent colors: in light theme, the pure white can be replaced with a very light tint of a color, and they could have a menu of different colors accent colors to choose from in the menu, such as red, cyan, and yellow. they should take a page from android 12's aesthetic design too in colors, and allow the ability to have multiple accent colors, or possibly palletes. this could make discord much more visually appealing and sleek in general. this would affect light theme more, but in dark theme icons can also be slightly dimmer and more blending in.
3: improved ui: discord could revamp the "home" of the app (clicking discord logo at top right). you guys could maybe allow widgets of sorts, like recent pings, major changes in servers, recent discord news, and new dm ui. it could look like a daily digest of discord, so the "home" could look like more than just a list of dms. also, in nitro, if possible, you could have the ability to make a few changes to the ui, such as larger text box, differently arranged server list, and more.
4: better transitions and animations: like windows 11's approach, the ui should have more bouncy, sleek, and more animations in general. maybe the user settings menu slides up from the bottom of the screen, and animations such as dropdown menus should have a more zooming feel to it, as instead of suddenly appearing, now "unrolling", like how the windows start menu pops up. when menus expand too, it should slightly overexpand and bounce back quickly, to give a feeling of life and friendliness. when switching to other channels and servers, it should slide quickly over from the left/right, like in windows 11 settings, when clicking a category, it slides over and fades into it. this could give discord a more smooth look, instead of a jaggy appearance.
thank you for reading this, and i hope you try out these ideas.
sincerely, felfern#0001.
