Exactly this, watching someone play a 4:3 game like this on a 16:9 monitor is laughably bad, please add a toggle in the appearance settings to switch between layouts.

Look its just not tidy at all and the older version was more accessible and convenient for a majority of users. This doesn't fix anything and its only for people playing 4:3 games

Having video call members along the bottom makes it hard to see the people I'm in the call with when we're watching a stream or focused on someone. It also means that I have to look down away from my webcam which ruins the illusion that we are looking at each-other; this was not disrupted when the call members were along the side. It also hurts my neck pretty quickly.

Seconding this, I think it's a terrible change, it feels much more visually cluttered as well rather than putting them on the side of the screen. The rollout for this feature has been strange, it was in some servers a few weeks ago, but not in others, and now finally, our partnered server has it as of yesterday, so i looked online to see if there was somewhere to complain about it or if other people had mentioned it.

I think I get where it comes from, if you do not use full screen mode on a 16:9 monitor it could give you just a bit more screen space.

But: The layout does not resize well to less common resolution, e.g. an upright 16:9 (making it 9:16), or ultravide. The first one is not addressed with this change - it does only provide one bar in focused mode, which looks like it assumes 16:9. The later one is made worse with this change because on anything where x:9 where x > 19 you will get more black then with the member list on the side  bar.

I'd really like to have a more configurable layout, and am not a fan of just forcing this change on me without any option configure it.

I use discord vc to help people who are writing programs. This new update makes it harder for me to read the code, and as I'm interacting with people who may use sign language it's not like I can really just hide members

This is bad from an accessibility stand point, please revert it.

I've just been hit by this and I agree, it's atrocious. If it's temporary, great, can we get on and either switch this "feature" off or make it toggleable please. Watching streams now is horrendous.

I cannot believe this has not been changed yet.
