An easier way to explain discord to new users, and expansion on the Discord Party Mode (TM) Feature
We all had some great fun with the new "achievement" system introduced with the quirky party mode "update" during discord's birthday.
I however think that the "achievement" system could be expanded on for accessibility purposes and make Discord an easier program to use for new users and even in some cases, old users alike. I think that the system that was provided during the update could provide as a non-intrusive "tutorial" for discord and give incentive for new (& at times old users) to check out discord's features (new and old) and teach them how they work.
For example, some of the current "achievements" are '@mention someone', 'customize party mode', and 'enable party mode'. I believe this could be made into a makeshift tutorial that (if users don't want to) could also be ignored (would still be active but not intrude on them using the platform). I think the aforementioned "achievements" could be turned into ones with a similar nature but more fitting to a way to teach users about discord, as such.
- '@mention someone', and 'get @mentioned' could stay the same
- 'Customize party mode' could become 'customize your profile'
- 'Enable party mode' could be 'link an account to your profile',
etc. And I believe that each of these could as well be skipped if the user doesn't want to do them and have more in-depth steps to do them if a user gets confused (such as linking to a forum page). I think this would be a great way to introduce users to new features of discord as well as the old, because some things in discord even old members don't know how to use / have ever used, for example the "inbox".
Hope I put this in the right post category as well.
