So I can't avoid notifications, ever?

I'm on a somewhat busy server with some sections of it being 100% irrelevant to me. Yet I cannot get rid of the notifications from those channels I have tried everything

I have tried muting the channels where the notifications originate, I have muted the entire category, I've set notifications to "Nothing" on both.

Discord to me is just full of many, many settings that do absolutely nothing. What actually changed in the last five years?
