Discord's Android and iOS apps each have their own notification settings, separate from the desktop app. This article covers how to manage both global and server-specific notifications on each platform.

In-App Notifications Settings
Discord's in-app Notification Settings screen controls whether Discord sends you a notification at all. Once Discord decides to notify you, your device's OS-level settings (covered separately below for Android and iOS) control how that notification actually appears on your phone, whether as a banner, sound, badge, and so on.
You can reach this screen two different ways:

1. Tap the Notifications icon to the right of your profile.
2. Tap the ellipsis in the top-right corner of Notifications and select Notification Settings.

1. Tap your profile icon in the bottom-left corner of the app.
2. Select the Settings icon on your profile card.
3. Under App Settings, select Notifications.

Here you can:
- Toggle In-app notification to get notifications within Discord.
- Select System notification to manage notifications outside of Discord.
- Choose how Reaction Notifications work: All Messages, Only Direct Messages, or Never.
- Select Community Activity Alerts or Highlight Notifications to manage other notification types.
- Toggle Integrate calls with Phone app.
- Toggle Voice Activity Notifications to get notified when your friends start streaming.
- Toggle Friends Online Status Notifications to get notified when friends come online.
- Toggle Friend Gaming Activity to get notified about games your friends are playing.
- Toggle Profile Updates to get notified when friends update their profile.
Tip (Android): When someone sends you several messages in a row, Discord always groups them into one tidy notification so your phone doesn't get cluttered. The Notify on every new message in conversations toggle helps decide how many of those messages actually get your attention:
- On: every new message in that conversation gives you a buzz, ping, or lights up your screen.
- Off: only the first message does that. The rest still show up in the notification, just quietly.

Tip (iOS): Turn on Integrate calls with Phone app and incoming Discord calls will look and act like a regular phone call. They'll show up on your iPhone's native call screen and in your Phone app's recent calls list, instead of only appearing inside Discord.

App Notifications Settings
This menu controls which activity sends you a notification, like new messages or a friend going live. Similar to iOS, Android manages these settings through your device's settings rather than from within Discord.
1. Open your device's Settings app and tap Notifications.
2. Tap App notifications.
3. Tap Discord from your list of apps.
This opens the Discord notification settings screen, where you can manage global notification behavior for the app.
- All Discord notifications: This acts as your master notification control. Disabling it means Discord won't send any push or banner notifications when you receive activity.
- Notification organizer: When enabled, Android automatically bundles and silences lower-priority Discord notifications.

Notification Categories
Tap a category to expand it and view or adjust the individual notification types inside. Each category also has an All [category] notifications toggle that turns every notification type within it on or off at once.

Real-time: Notifications for live activity.
- Voice connected: Notifies you when you connect to a voice channel.

Server: Notifications from your servers.
- Forum notifications: Notifies you about new posts in forum channels.
- Messages: Notifies you about new messages in your servers.

Social: Notifications for your friends and direct interactions.
- Direct messages: Notifies you about new DMs.
- Friend requests: Notifies you about new friend requests.
- Reaction Notifications: Notifies you when someone reacts to your messages.
- Friend Activity: Notifies you about your friends' activity, like the games they're playing.
Tap Show unused categories to reveal additional notification types that aren't currently active.

- Allow full-screen notifications: Allows Discord notifications to take up the full screen when your device is locked.
- Allow notification dot: Adds a dot to the Discord app icon when you have unread notifications.

iOS

Unlike Android, the iOS app doesn't have a global notifications menu within Discord. App-wide notification settings are managed through your device's settings: open Settings > Notifications > Discord.

Similar to Android, this acts as your master notification control. Disabling it means Discord won't send any push or banner notifications when you receive a message.

- Alerts: Choose whether notifications appear on the lock screen, in Notification Center, and as banners. Check or uncheck each option to enable or disable it individually.
- Banner Style: Choose between Temporary (default) or Persistent. Temporary banners appear briefly and then disappear, while Persistent banners stay on screen until you dismiss or tap them.
- Sounds: Controls whether Discord notifications play an audible sound when received.
- Badges: Enabling this option adds a red notification indicator over the Discord app icon when you receive notifications or specific mentions (@mentions or DMs).
- Announce Notifications: Siri reads Discord notifications aloud.
- Show Previews: Choose Always, When Unlocked (default), or Never to control how notifications appear on your lock screen.
- Notifications Grouping: Choose Automatic, By App, or Off to control how your Discord notifications are grouped.

Server-Specific Notification Settings
In addition to your global settings, Discord lets you customize notification settings for each individual server.
1. To access server-specific notification settings, tap the server's name.
2. Select Notifications to view the available server-specific settings.

Mute Server
Tapping Mute brings up several muting options:
For 15 minutes: Mutes the server for 15 minutes.
For 1 hour: Mutes the server for 1 hour.
For 3 hours: Mutes the server for 3 hours.
For 8 hours: Mutes the server for 8 hours.
For 24 hours: Mutes the server for 24 hours.
Until I turn it back on: Mutes the server until you manually disable server mute.

Server Notification Settings
All Messages: Any message posted in this server triggers a notification, based on your app notification settings.
Only @mentions: Only specific @mentions will trigger a notification. This includes direct @username, @role, @everyone, and @here.
Nothing: No messages in this server will trigger a device notification.
Suppress @everyone and @here: Enabling this option prevents both types of mentions from triggering a notification.
Suppress All Role @mentions: When enabled, this prevents role mentions (like @admins or @moderators) from triggering a notification.
Suppress Highlights: Suppresses notifications for noteworthy content like messages, friend activity, events, and more.
Mute New Events: When enabled, this mutes notifications for new events in the server.
Mobile Push Notifications: When enabled, push notifications for this server come through to your mobile device.

Notification Overrides
In Notification Overrides, add a specific channel or category to set notification settings that override your server-wide settings. Select the channel or category you want to manage notifications for.
