Ability to switch between gg sans and the old font
There should be an option to switch between the new font and the old one, would be pretty cool.
Since Discord has given the ability to change eye-straining colors, they should also give us the ability to change the font. The new font looks so much worse than the older one, I don't get it, why does Discord keep ruining their app?

As someone with visual accessibility issues, this font is horrendous and when scaled it's no better. I currently have it at 20pt and it's still illegible to me. Also, Discord, please hire an accessibility expert. You need one desperately.

This means that if you all want Whitney back on Discord you'll have to pay H&Co. a sum of hundreds of dollars or find a no-cost download somewhere on the Internet, install it with procedures depending on your OS, then Ctrl+Shift+I your way into the devtools and replace "gg sans" with however the Whitney you got is called in the font-primary string, which you'll have to manually change every single time you open Discord or after a refresh.
Or you can do what I did, which is to use a third-party extension that provides a custom CSS box, into which I put "@import url(https://cdn.statically.io/gh/Overimagine1/old-discord-font/main/source.min.css);" and now my Discord is all the old font every time I open it with no problems. Besides, Discord is thriving, they should be able to pay for a font that the majority of the userbase prefers.

(Linux solution) I'm fully aware not everyone is able to manipulate the client, so it really depends on the users' abilities if they're able to fix this themselves or not. That said, if you're able to and you're using Linux, the fix is this:
Download the Whitney font from: https://github.com/mbilker/Discord-Linux/blob/master/app/fonts/whitney-medium.woff
Convert it to OTF using this: https://cloudconvert.com/woff-to-ttfInstall the font.
Download the Discord CSS injector: https://github.com/mlvzk/discocss
In your ~/.config/discocss/custom.css file put this:
:root {
--font-primary: "WhitneyMedium", sans-serif !important;
--font-display: "WhitneyMedium", sans-serif !important;
}
Follow the rest of the directions on the discosss repo on how to launch Discord.Or, if you're using Gnome shell you can change the shortcut of the Discord "favorite" icon (if it's on your favorites bar).
In either /usr/share/applications/ or in ~/.local/share/applications/ look for the file named discord.desktop.
Open it in a text editor and look for the line starting with "Exec=" and change everything after = to the path of the script.
For example:Exec=/home/user/discocss/discocss
Now it will launch the CSS injector which will fix the CSS then launch the Discord app.2 -
Need font switch option.
Need gg sans improved.J, RST, e, h, opqrst, and y are okay
Everything else needs a rework, without even going into spacing, special characters or other alphabets.
No idea why horizontal strokes have been lowered, and curves added to K/k.
Give the letters some room to breathe!Add font settings. If I have the font installed on my PC, I should be able to use it.
If I want wind-dings, so help me you better give me wing-dings.2 -
AlejHerrBar2003 There are royalty-free fonts they could use, and furthermore, they could simply use a font that's already installed on the users' computers. If CSS can have provisions for selecting generic serif and sans-serif fonts, there's no reason they can't auto-select one or provide the user with an option to pick one of their system fonts.

Correct; they could for example use the 'sans-serif' attribute to allow using a font someone chooses in a browser's font settings for that attribute (such as Settings > Appearance > Customize fonts in Chromium browsers).
Speaking of royalty-free, Discord affirms GG Sans is a font designed in-house by their staff, however they do not intend to make it open-source, at least for the moment. If for example Hoefler and Co. were to make the source for Whitney, Gotham and Skia among some of their most popular fonts available to open-source enthusiasts, then I believe that could be enough for Discord to implement a "Select a font" picker where Whitney could be the "Classic" option and a font of our choice could be the "Custom" option (this one particularly because there is no ability to change the 'sans-serif' font or even a "browser settings" page in the Discord Electron client)

Many individuals in South Africa often turn to the SASSA Status Check to monitor their application progress. Whether it's a general SASSA Status or a more specific query like the SASSA Status Check for R350 grants, people rely heavily on these updates. Moreover, for those who face challenges or discrepancies, the SASSA Appeal process becomes crucial. It's essential to stay informed, especially when dealing with financial assistance. The intricacies of SDR SASSA and the various nuances of SASSA SRD further emphasize the importance of understanding and navigating the system effectively.

While the discourse revolves around Discord's font changes, akin to the flexibility offered in color customization, users advocate for an option to toggle between the new and old fonts. This parallels the need for flexibility, as seen in processes like SASSA status checks and banking detail updates, emphasizing user empowerment in software experiences.

AI spam bots on the website, nice.
Guess that shows how much Discord cares about its tech and user experience.
