i second this. im already super frustrated with the change, is it SO hard to just have a little button in the image settings that allows us to have a CHOICE?

I made an account on this support server just to complain about this. Not being able to view images in full at one glance is a serious hassle and I would like to get the option to turn it off so I can view images normally again instead of having to click each and every one. It makes trying to compare images impossible and I've had to save them and paste them in another program to do so after this horrible feature was made.

Please. give us a choice not to use it.

Thank you so much for posting this! I too am someone who set up a discord help account just so I could make this request. On iPad iOS, the new UI is not only inconvenient, it gives me sensory issues while trying to use Discord. My friends and I share a lot of images with each other and now it feels terrible to see image posts. I know of no other social media network that hides view of images unless you click. I don't need them to be full-width -- that's what opening an image is for. But I do want to be able to see at a glance whether it's worth opening an image. But further, I want to be able to scroll through servers and channels I'm a part of without feeling the sensory issues this creates now with how the image thumbnails are zoomed and hidden. Please give us some recourse -- what used to be a beautiful thing that opened up my world to community now is a painful app to use. :(

Made an account just to agree and vote for this as well.

Also made an account for this, I really don't like the change, single images take up way more space than they used to, as well, so even that's been made worse by the change.

I've made my opinions on this known in other feedback threads, so I'll just say that I agree here.

I agree the UX is terrible now. Images are the only reason I started a art Discord. Thanks to this forced change I now have to rebuild somewhere else.

Discord doesn't seem to grasp the magnitude of this "update". It may perhaps already be too late while creators start leaving the platform.

I was about to make a post about the same thing. I'd like this to be an opt-in feature, especially for servers. I hate this feature and it completely destroys the quality and size of images I send through it now. Before, the quality change was barely noticable and now everything I send in batches are small and bad quality. Please make a toggle for this feature, or just remove it. I preferred the waterfall view for sending multiple images rather than the grid/collage view.

There should be a toggle between this display method, one that does the same thing but zooms out the images, and one that displays images the classic way.

It is VERY annoying in my group specifically because we post box art templates, and it just crops the images and leaving out the ESRB and console banners...leaving us clueless what template is actually posted.

I hadn’t used discord in a couple months so I was really confused and annoyed by this sudden change. It’s especially bad for serious art servers where you need people to see the whole image easily at a glance. The preview cropping is awful.

Why can’t they make it a choice even if they don’t want to revert it for everyone.

Agreed. Drastic changes to display like this should never be forced through as unalterable.

This was a good change for people who were complaining about multiple images filling chats but it really only ought to be an option so people who weren't having issues with that don't need to have their experience made worse.

I completely understand your frustration with the new grid/collage format for displaying images. It can indeed be inconvenient, especially when it comes to seeing the full image without having to open it separately. Many users prefer the simplicity of the old image display, which allowed for a quick glance at all the images.

I share your sentiment that providing users with options is a key aspect of user-friendly design. A toggle or an option to switch between the new grid format and the classic display would be a great solution to cater to different user preferences. This way, those who prefer the old image display can continue using it, while others who like the new grid format can stick with that.

Your feedback is valuable, and I hope the platform's developers take it into consideration when making future updates. It's important for user feedback to be heard and for platforms to strive for a balance between innovation and user-friendliness.

Yes, PLEASE give us an option to change it. I hate this new grid and, while I don’t want to take it from anyone who actually enjoys it, I desperately do not want it on my own client. A toggle option would be best. I had hoped it would be changed back, but it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Please let us choose!
