Discord isn't a social media network, it is a messaging system, and as such, there is no necessity for unique names. Part of the claim for why removing discriminators is necessary is because of difficulty remembering the names, however, with unique names, that is definitely going to be the case, as you can plainly see with the website Neopets, look at any Neopet in the pound and tell me if you think that's an easy to remember name. Whereas, my discord name is one eight letter word with the unique discriminator, far easier to remember. Case sensitivity also adds to the uniqueness of the usernames, and as such, revoking it would make it harder for people to keep simple, easy to remember, usernames. All of the issues that are claimed to stem from discriminators would only be worsened with unique names, don't be Neopets.
