Allow Nitro users to use 3rd party clients
The main reason for users to not use 3rd party clients is that they could bypass Nitro and get the benefits for free. This would be bad for everybody, as Nitro is what keeps Discord alive. I've been a Nitro subscriber since it existed specifically for this reason, even if I don't really utilize any of it's features.
That being said, it's well known that Discord is extremely slow to make changes and updates to it's client, especially on non-Windows platforms. 3rd party clients often fill user needs both in terms of features (such as native Wayland screen sharing), and simple UI customization.
I propose that Discord should modify their ToS to allow Nitro subscribers to use 3rd party clients without punishment, and to create an API specifically for 3rd party clients to use, including a special OAuth endpoint to both prevent users from entering their password into untrusted clients, and to validate whether or not the user logging in has Nitro (and thus can use 3rd party clients). This would be a "best of both worlds" situation.
