Good day, you are reading my protest against the removal of discriminators.
the reasons why i wholeheartedly disagree with the removal of them;
Nobody in the world has had a moment where they met some hot girl in a bar that asked them for their discord username and your phone happend to be empty.
we got mobile phone numbers for that.
98% of people using discord have a phone and have the mobile app installed, it is REALLY blooody easy to open your phone and look at your username.
the post from discord themselves saying that ''some people find it hard to find or remember their username'' is completely false
both on pc and mobile it is extremly fool proof, clicking/tapping your username for it to be copied to your clipboard and you can now copy paste this anywhere you want! WOW! ( use your brain people)
the removal of discriminators will not fix and identity issues, if you were named ''john#1234'' before, you will now get people named John234897 and John 288476 and John0239485 and John01923847 and..... etc, you get the memmo.
people PAY for their discriminators to be changed, custom. taking this feature away, as silly as it sounds, will cause people to stop getting nitro as it is something that distinquishes you from other people.
i've got friends who are recognised in random servers or events due to their discriminator and username combination.
a lot of other gaming companies use discriminators, like battlenet for example. it is much easier to type in DragonSlayer#9265 then to add Dr4g0nSl4y3R927_!8 to your friends list cus all the other variations were already taken.
it is again something that is being ''fixxed'' while it isnt broken, yet adds a heap of other issues to the mix.
i've not spoken to a SINGLE person ( and i'm in the max available servers possible without nitro) that has agreed, liked or talked positively about this upcomming update. i would REALLY advise to listen to your community, specially the veteran part of this community. me being one of those.
best regards and i REALLY hope this does not reach the actual build.
