“Navigate forward and backward in page history” shortcuts broken on multiple (all?) platforms and clients
Web client, stable 201332 (10d1e45), Firefox 113.0.2, Xubuntu 20
Edit: Also tested on Chromium, same issue.
The Alt-←→ shortcuts (“Navigate forward and backward in page history” ) stopped working approximately 1–3 days ago (end of May 2023).
- Nothing happens when the keyboard shortcut is used.
- Nothing pops up in the developer console when hitting those key combinations either.
- The shortcut is still listed as usual in the “Keybinds” section of the settings. They cannot be edited in the browser version anyway.
- Same issue in a private browsing window.
- Same issue without the adblockers.
- Alt-↑↓ and Shift-Alt-↑↓ still work as intended.
- Using the web browser’s UI buttons to go back and forward still works.
- Same issue on all servers, and in the Direct Messages section.
- That shortcut, which is natively supported by Firefox, still works on every other website.

Adding on, this is also an issue on the desktop client as well.
Items #1, #3, #6, #8 from above in particular are exactly as described.

Thanks Ian for confirming that I’m not alone.
Are you on Linux as well, or is this a cross-OS issue? I might have to edit the title depending on the scope (if it can be edited).
Edit: Tested on Chromium for the heck of it; broken as well.

I am on Windows 10, and am using the downloaded desktop client!

Thanks; I used a more generic title.

Also on the Windows 10 Desktop client, same issue.
Update: It seems the binding works if you don't have focus in the chat prompt. So if you click on a different part of the client and then use the binding, it functions (though it then puts the focus in the chat prompt, so you can't easily go more than once).

I can confirm the “works if focus elsewhere” part on my side as well – good catch.

Toggling between DMs and servers with Ctrl+Alt+RightArrow is broken in the same way (Windows 10 Desktop). Really annoying, since that's one of the shortcuts I use most often.

If that's the case, the issue might be that the Left/Right Arrow keys are not working/not detected for shortcuts while focused on the text box. All other shortcuts seem to be working fine, just not the ones involving LeftArrow/RightArrow.
