Requesting timer for unread messages

So here is my issue. I go on a particular channel in the server that has unread messages from me. I scoll from the red line to the bottom and very often it still doesn't count it as I have read them all. Basically I want an option that loosens the definition of read, like a 5-60 second timer that counts the seconds I'm in a channel and if it counts down to zero the channel is marked as read all. Right now that is the most annoying thing on Discord for me.
