Mac's ⌥ + ⬅/➡ is a USEFUL system shortcut, don't override it.
So according to https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/225878307--macOS-Discord-Hotkeys ⌥ + ⬅/➡ isn't supposed to do anything. BUT recently it seems the keybinds on the webchat changed so it now "navigates forward and backward in page history".
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201236 According to this apple support page, it is a "document shortcut" which moves the insertion point to the beginning/end of the previous/next word. OS assigned shortcuts should be off limits.
Please revert the change.

Yeah, seriously. Breaking fundamental UI behavior is not cool.

Yes, this is bad. I cannot navigate my own posts as I'm writing them because the alt+left arrow keeps moving me to a previous text chat I was in. It's ruining my experience.

Shortcuts are fun until they override other shortcuts people have learned to use.
These shortcuts are creating immense frustration.

or even default to this override, but allow me to change it?? Ok, for now (since I'm using Discord in Ferdi, but even if you're using it in the browser directly, you can benefit if you use a userscripts extension/plugin like "ViolentMonkey", TamperMonkey, or GreaseMonkey) I have fixed this for myself with https://github.com/hcientist/fix-discord-caret
If you're just using the browser, try here: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/420092-fix-move-caret-by-word-in-discord-on-macos
