Arrow keybinds to navigate in history is a terrible idea for mac users
Hi,
I always use option + arrow keys to navigate word by word in the text I am currently typing.
On Discord there is a key binding which navigates backward and forward in the history, preventing me to navigate in my text!
This is quite annoying, and I don't really care about navigating in the history (browsers have other shortcuts for this purpose anyways).
Note : I am a mac user with an french Apple Keyboard (about to switch to linux).

Strong agree. Both myself and my partner have been frustrated by this. It seems like a recent change, in the last week or so?
Repro'd with US english keyboard layout.

Strong agree. ⌥+⬅️ or ⌥+➡️ to jump words is core functionality for Macs. Jumping history instead is very bad.
Discord should fix it ASAP.
If they're trying to to mirror Windows, a better key might be "COMMAND" ⌘. That's in the same place as ALT on a Windows keyboard and typically does what ALT does in other applications.
Fix it fix it.

100% agree, this is horrible, I'm _very_ used to using option + arrow for jumping words, and now suddenly i'm in an entirely different chat/tab/whatever.
Please do not use CMD and arrow either, that's used for jumping to start/end of line.
If it's really necessary, CMD and [ or ] are the usual page forward/back keys, though in general this function is built into browsers and Discord shouldn't need to provide it at all. CTRL and arrows might also be an option, I don't believe those have default settings.

I also agree with this. If there is a way on the browser app to customize the shortcut this wouldn't be an issue, but since there isn't this actually breaks the entire experience.

Command + arrow is supposed to be beginning/end of line. Discord should read the UI guidelines for text input on macos and follow them. It's bad enough Discord doesn't do any of the built-in control-key shortcuts but at least those aren't formally documented.

Indeed. Capturing [modifier]+arrow is infuriating to people accustomed to the usual Mac keyboard interface.

FWIW, I filed a Support request about this (10968934) and was directed here (Community in general, not this specific thread).

Yes this is a recent change and it's become infuriating to use Discord. Making it practically impossible to use. It's infurating.

I also created a support issue for this (11011479)

It's not letting me vote or follow this for some reason, but strongly agree! I can't edit my messages in Discord anymore it's so damn frustrating, and *"Custom keybindings are not currently supported in the browser"* wtf! I basically will have to struggle along until this is fixed

Seems like sometime in the past day or so it was fixed! Option left and right no longer navigate! Thanks Discord!
