Server Sleep Mode / Save RAM
I notice that one of the major uses of memory in Discord is the number of servers you're a member of, now with this being a community platform, there are likely many of us who are on a multitude of servers, from Minecraft to Mountain Dew.
In previous VOIP programs, in order to be in multiple servers you had to launch multiple instances of the program, which was a pain, so I'm glad we've moved past that. However, it also meant the absolute minimum impact on system resources.
Now I personally have no problems with frame lag or memory usage, but I have an abundance in my system, and as we know 8GB is still "high" by industry standards (i.e. prebuilt box PCs that a lot of people have). So the program using 300MB for only 10 servers (I left many servers to check this) seems problematic when many of us easily have 20+ groups/games that we like to be part of the community for.
My suggestion:
Server Sleep Mode
Effectively turn Discord into a single server at a time connection. While you have it in this mode any server you don't have actively selected is "Off" or "Disconnected". You don't get updates, tag pings, or anything else that you normally would, including the "Unread" notification on the server. You're simply not there until you actively select the server. Of course direct messages would be unaffected, so your friends could still contact you directly.
Having this optional mode would allow all of the lower end system users and people using discord on say, a workbook, wouldn't need to be concerned with the increasing RAM usage of being connected to so many servers.

I think that's a pretty good idea :D
