Longer mute options
Sometimes, I just need a break from someone. Maybe I need more time to think about something, or just don't want to receive messages from them for a while. For that, I use timed mutes.
When I mute someone, they disappear from my list. Out of sight, out of mind. I don't need to think about them, and I don't need to read anything they send me... for a measly maximum of 24 hours.
I get that Discord is an instant messaging app, but not everything happens in the short term. Maybe something especially stressful happens and I want to mute someone for a little while longer. As-is, if I use the permanent mute option, longer breaks increase the risk that I just might not remember to unmute them once my break is over. I need Discord to help me with this. I don't want to forget my friends.
I don't mute unless I have to. But sometimes, I do have to, and maybe longer than 24 hours. Right now, I chain multiple 24-hour mutes together, but every time they pop back into my list, it's a reminder that my break is still not over. A reminder of the stress that prompted me to take a break in the first place. I'd rather be given time to become fully refreshed before seeing them again. Then I can enter their DMs with the proper mindset.
I propose these new options: 3 days, 7 days, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months.
It's the little things in life that make all the difference.
