“Jump to Ping” feature, and inbox changes.
Instead of looking in my inbox, I will find myself navigating to the channel in which I was pinged, and vigorously scrolling up (especially on mobile) to see who responded to me.
The inbox area gets cluttered and I need to scroll just as much to find the message, and I think in your inbox the priority piece of information should not be who pinged you (how are you going to know who you are looking for if you need to catch up on old messages?) but rather the server and then channel you were pinged in. If you see the channel, it’s likely you will remember the conversation and decide whether or not you are interested in catching up or not.
It seems silly that there is a big red number over a text channel, but that you can’t just jump to it like you would to new messages. In debate channels, where it has a fixed discussion topic, you might post a long rant/argument (like this here suggestion) and not check in on it for a few hours. Lots of discord channels are not really conversation areas but rather “I’m going to post this here and see if I get any response in an hour or so,” with a fixed topic.

Before you flay me alive, if anyone has already suggested this, this is just a popular idea and is even more grounds for why it should be added, not grounds of a silly debate about who had the same idea first and thus who gets to post it.
