Implementation Request - Status Rings

In the title really - it would be neat to add an option to change the avatar status from a small dot that often covers people's avatars to a ring around the avatar that gives you the persons status constantly (e.g. amber circle for idle, red for DND, green for online and gray for offline). Could animate the status ring too to make it stand out.
