Please do NOT sell Discord!

For those unaware, Discord is in talks to sell for $10 BILLION.

I'm here to make a futile plead, please please please, do NOT sell Discord.

 

Back in 2015, I switched from Skype and TeamSpeak to Discord for a few reasons, all relating to the issues around Skype and TeamSpeak. I absolutely HATED the ads in Skype, TeamSpeak was mostly good only for voice and not other stuff. So when Discord came out, it was the perfect app with a combination of both - with no ads, with a nice layout. When Discord Nitro came out, I instantly bought Nitro and have continued to support Discord every year with a Nitro. I love everything with Discord and have loved it ever since.

To see Discord in potential talks with Microsoft, a company that had MSN and Skype and who drove Mixer to the ground, which is already owning Microsoft Teams too - it breaks my heart. Yeah $10billion is a massive, life-changing sum, but PLEASE do NOT sell this to any massive big tech company. We love Discord as it is and would hate to see it fail - which it 100% will, considering the track record of these big tech companies. :(

    I've been paying for Nitro for 2 years. I pay because Discord is a "neutral ground".
    It would be a shame to see everything destroyed for the interests of a company that wants to make money on the backs of the players

    Absolutely, I fully agree on that one. I've always found Discord to be more independent and neutral than other apps so it would be devastating to see it destroyed. :(
