Cross-Posting to Different Channels

I recently joined a server with a pretty harsh channel moderator. If a conversation about the server topic (lets say Star Wars as an example) starts in #general, but somehow we migrate to talking about Star Trek, we would get flagged down for not talking in #off-topic and we are asked to switch channels. This often kills the conversation completely.

If the new reply feature could somehow be repurposed to also work in other channels, than the conversation wouldn't have to die. It would keep people from getting angry at unchill officers, and save conversations that would otherwise die.
