  That's maybe a great idea , twitch integration is there , so it might even be possible

  streaming works because there's an app that streamers run which discord detects as running on your machine. this does not exist on people watching - you would have to have everyone download a custom browser to enable this feature

  There is one thing you missed.

  Discord can be connected with an twitch account.
  And the twitch api does support "currently watching"
  So technological it is possible .

  I don't see how it's possible in its current state
  it would require each user to be notified and hooked into a 'twitch drops' API

  and that only works if there is a bot actively listening for it.
  I code discord bots and server bots. I do not see it being 'technically' possible until the means are technically available. its only theoretical at this point.

  and to mention 'linking' accounts doesn't give you access to that service as a whole, its only used for OAuth requests and user validation
