Blocking shouldn't unfriend. Possible fix, Hide Friends you don't want to talk to now

Having a friendship that is suddenly at risk due to heated differences of opinion can be preserved by preventing further interaction for a limited time or until ready. Imagine freezing or hiding a friend your not emotionally prepared to speak with? Then you can continue to use your Discord without anxiety. I am suggesting this because I made the mistake of blocking a friend because my nerves could not take talking at that time after Jan 6th. It appeared to me that my friend unfriended and blocked me. It seems now they didn't but my temporary block, intended as a cooldown actually unfriended them. I strongly wish this hadn't happened. It hurt an already endangered relationship. Sorry if I've put this in the wrong place.
