Go back to the drawing board with the "raise your hand feature".
The way you designed it, it doesn't organize voice chats, it just isolates a few members. That's not how raising your hand works.

Nah you miss the point, I think.

Unless you have used programs like paltalk @lala sabathil and making the comparison to how discord did theirs.... Im not sure you fully understand what @wild dog is trying to say.
In comparison discord's design is horrible. There are too many problems with it that make it a convoluted mess. It is not simple nor is it intuitive. The raised hand feature should be more visible to whoever is moderating the server from a list of names not some button that you have to click on before you approve a particular person to come to the microphone...
One of the problems is that sometimes conversations or debates going on like this that would allow for raise hand feature don't necessarily need someone to manually unmute them. Even with large audiences generally I respectful of speakers if not you could have moderators quickly mute them.... You could also Force the channel to be pushed to talk with no open mic. With priority speaking those that have the moderator role- no one would be able to talk over them or break the discussion if they were to try to get to the microphone. Wow that is another way the moderation for the channel could also only allow for one person to speak at a time so if one person is speaking if anybody tried to jump in and talk over them it would not be possible..... Allowing for an open room type discussion without the need to have everybody muted... It would just be push to talk and a q system that is visible to all and when the moderator tells them the next person in q would take the microphone.
You also cannot engage The audience that is not speaking through any kind of text means... Their names are not visible unless you're clicking on a certain thing.
I have used many of these type of programs and always have disliked discords design for roles permissions and organization. It is a very convoluted system in a lot of ways.
They didn't even really need to make a new voice channel they could have worked this into what they already have that exists. In the voice channel itself everybody is listed by names... You could have some button somewhere that is your raise hand... When your hand is raised it could put your name at the top of that list with a little emoji raise hand icon on your name to indicate you want to speak.... It would put you in queue based on who clicked the raise hand icon first... Simple basic no fuss.... The only downside to this setup is the fact that there is no text channel in the same interface.... But you could just have a text channel under the category with that voice channel that everybody clicks on to read the scrolling text of those that are not at the microphone
