Discord's Rebranding
To Whom It May Concern,
Hey Discord, I would like to suggest a change with the current typography and colour scheme. As much as I do support Discord updating their branding, the current branding simply just doesn't suit Discord's overall theme.
To be blunt, the typography is absolutely hideous. The fonts should be increased in font height and they should be more rounded as opposed to the current sans-serif in black weight. They should be significantly reduced in font weight as well. In addition, the letter "i" in the Discord logotype is inconsistent with the rest of the logotype's font. I'm not sure how the designer managed to make that mistake, but I've met many senior brand visual designers who are extremely meticulous about consistency. I would suggest changing the new font from Ginto Nord Black to Poppins Bold 700. It's casual, which I assume is what Discord is going for, and less shocking to the eyes.
As for the colour scheme, it could definitely be much more improved. The "blurple" colour is rather unpleasant to the eyes; it can be rather eye-blinding if you look at it for too long. The other colours have the same effect — they're so "in-your-face." It would be lovely if you guys could tone down on the colours a bit and make them a bit more "soft-toned." While it is important to make certain attributes stand out, user experience is still extremely important.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I wish you all the best on future design endeavours.
