General poor accessibility
There's already a lot of posts about the accessibility issues, but I wanted to post again because I'm extremely frustrated. I, and many other disabled users, are very exhausted with this attitude of "get used to it" coming from discord when it comes to visual changes.
The discord twitter account really agreed with a comment that people will complain for a week and forget about it? Your disabled users won't forget about it, we only learn that our input doesn't have enough say to make active changes. It's already been said that the new blurple is causing eye strain, the new font is hard to read, and this has been another update that changes the font and text spacing in app. The new highlighting when a user is pinged is even harder to read, and strains the eyes. All of these changes were unnecessary, make the app less functional, and more confusing for disabled users. Again. We've asked many times for an option to disable UI changes, or offer more theme/font options, and you don't. We aren't complaining because we're angry at change, we're angry because we have given you a million options that would genuinely help your disabled users, and then you've done the exact opposite in every update. Many of us feel you don't care for your disabled community at all.
I understand wanting to refresh discord with a new look, but you should be putting functionality first, and fancy fonts and bright colours just aren't as functional or accessible to a large portion of your user base. Yes, every app updates and goes through rebranding, yes, these are issues the disabled community faces with them too. Be an ally instead of another on the list of apps who doesn't care for the input of it's disabled community.

I noticed that Discord replied to someone’s concerns about accessibility with a feedback form! I filled it out already, so I hope others in do and share it with friends as well to let them know how inaccessible and garish the new colors, font, etc. are for users.
Link to their tweet about it: https://twitter.com/discord/status/1392869194413355009
Link to their Google form feedback itself: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdTzNbITTRx4BYWFlC3gi_lEi3D3rsa9VCBK_EphF5myDb7uw/viewformThey claim accessibility is taken very seriously, so let’s be sure to inform them of how difficult these new changes are for people.
