Reason for rebranding is contradictory.
Lots of people are pointing out how terrible Discord's rebrand is, how bad the font looks, but I haven't seen anyone point out how contradictory it is?
Like, one of the main points of rebranding was to make Discord appear 'friendlier' to new users, represented the new font and brighter colours. However, in doing so, you've forgotten something extremely important.
The name of Discord. The word 'discord' is defined as "lack of agreement or harmony" and "active quarreling or conflict resulting from discord among persons or factions" [source: Merriam Webster]. Discord is conflict. That is the opposite of friendly.
So if you really wanted to make Discord appear so much friendlier, you should have changed the name as well (which would've, with no doubt, caused even more backlash than what's happening now). But since you're haven't, you're left with branding that is inconsistent.
In an effort to make your brand seem more pleasant, you've also ended up with an aesthetic that is muddled and lost.
