Another complaint about rebranding
First of all, I think that the changed logo itself is not that bad. The shape became more straightforward, but the general feel of gamepad-ness increased, which is suitable for novelty and recognition. Less pointy parts are good, and the emotion features are popping on it.
But the new font looks horrible. It's cartoonish, like one of those old Word Art styles or standard "fancy" semi-friendly fonts. It seems rather strange near the logo. A few other problems:
- rounded top of the "i" and the dot there create a visual sink that distracts from the actual name;
- disparity in letter heights makes the "sc" part look bigger than intended and creates an unpleasant and unwarranted sinusoid line of sight along with the name, breaking the word into two parts (disc-ord);
- text looks visually grounded and not centered vertically like it's being pulled down.
The new font is in visual disparity with the logo, its soft, rounded corners contradicting the edges of the controller. In this regard, the old "edgy" font was a more pleasing one. If anything, you should try and iterate on it. Its blocky features are a much better fit for the new logo.
Lastly, the new blurple is too bright and distracting. It's visually straining to look at, especially on bright backgrounds (even in promo examples, it looks saturated). Again, it reminds me of the 90's horrible PowerPoint presentations, "bright green on bright red." Whoever designed these is a real secret 90's cyber-fashion fan.
Moreover, the old color is pretty recognizable, and the new one looks too general. Having it in the toolbar or on an app icon would make Discord less recognizable from the other we-use-blue-it's-friendly apps.
All in all, these changes look and feel like a push for Discord to become a corporate-driven product and less friendly to users. This rebranding reminds me greatly of Skype's downfall that started along with similar changes. Among many great things that Discord does for its userbase, this is not one of them.

I absolutely agree. The thing that bugs me the most though is how they upped the saturation on the green they use in app, like when showing someone is online or speaking in voice chat. I liked the calmer, paler green we had before. This new one really bothers and distracts me. And I use discord for a virtual office. I have to stare at that green all day.
