Server and PM key-word responsive message filter settings
My idea is to have a censorship feature that comes with a few options:
Account wide censoring of swear words, slurs, or a word or words chosen by the user, by marking PM's containing those words with a spoiler-like bar that lifts when clicked, of a colour other than black to differentiate it from the spoiler feature.
Server-wide settings with the same premise as above with the option to either place the coloured bar over the word, remove the word from the message/s (with an in-message indication that it has been removed), or auto-delete messages containing that word, then notify a moderator that the word/s in question has/have been used in messages, by whom, when, how often they have infracted, and the contents of the message/s. An auto-mute setting when this has been violated "x" number of times may prove useful as well, with manual revocation of the mute at moderators' discretion or after a certain amount of time has passed.
This may also work in favour of younger users who would not benefit from exposure to coarser language.
The idea is that legal precautions are taken and that the settings are available at the user's discretion to apply to their PM's and/or servers, or their selection of the servers they are in, and that users would be notified upon joining a server what filtering options are in use in the server.
This was mentioned by another user some time ago but received little attention:
This could curb the use of slurs and cussing where they are unwelcome, and the ability for the user to implement personalised filtering across their account would help to avoid potentially serious triggering events.

maybe make a censored thing to appear for this rather than spoilers?
also why do you want an autocensor?0 -
That's what I meant, just a bar like the spoiler feature.
The settings would all be manual. The server filtering settings would be set by a moderator/admin of the server, and the idea was to incorporate a feature that could automatically report infractions on those settings to moderators/admins if they want to receive them.
Hope that answered your questions! I know it'd take quite a lot of effort to design, test and release, but the idea was to promote community safety. Having it so highly customiseable would make it a more versatile tool.0
