    Dear Nick,

Thank you for bringing up the concern regarding the recent change in Discord's username format from user#0000 to @user. I understand that there are concerns about the system favoring users with seniority and providing different waiting times for those who support Discord through server partnerships, Discord staff, and Nitro subscriptions.

I would like to clarify that Discord's intention with this change was not to create an unfair advantage or disadvantage for users. The purpose of the new username format is to enhance user experience and provide more personalized identification within the Discord community.

However, it is true that users who support Discord through server partnerships, Discord staff, and Nitro subscriptions do have different timeframes for securing usernames. This is because Discord acknowledges the support and contribution of these users to the platform. While it might be seen as a disadvantage for general users, it is important to note that there are various factors and considerations involved in the allocation of usernames.

If you would like to learn more about this change and the different timeframes for securing usernames, I encourage you to read the following article: Evolving usernames. This resource will provide you with more detailed information and insights into Discord's approach to username allocation.

Discord values user feedback and takes user concerns seriously. While it may be unfortunate for some users, it is important to understand that Discord aims to strike a balance between various user categories and maintain a fair and inclusive environment for everyone.

If you have any further questions or need additional clarification, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Best regards,
    Richard

For anyone who may stumble into this discussion, I learned that Discord has a viable competitor in guilded.gg and they probably don't screw people over like Discord does. Have yourself a look.

thank you for suggesting guilded.gg, i'm checking them out right now. i cancelled all my nitro subs after this stupid shit and im an open book for competitors. also i was a nitro sub since 2019, account made since 2016,  but had cancelled it temporarily, reactivated it recently, and watched 2021 accounts get usernames before me. there is no respect for veteran users, they favorite specific users, and shit on their roots.

Thing is for me it's matter of not getting impersonated on Discord since my name is unique, adding a ". or _" in my name ruins it.
