Badges and Crime - visibility options and privacy settings for badges
Discord is I would argue one of the worlds leading communication platform for our day and age, and unforutantely because of the wonderful customisation and existing recognition systems with limited badges there are those that covet these fun additions.
I used to be a booster for the town hall, but regularly got people messaging me begging for Nitro or threatening me in some cases. I have recently recovered from a targetted attack against me where their goal was a $300 dollar ransom or my discord account because of my early supporter badge.
I suggest that we should be able to choose who can and can't see certain badges, so that I can choose friends only and hide my badges on certain servers. While booster badges are great, not being able to hide that you are boosting is a public announcement you are invested in a particular server and or Discord itself.
We should be able to wear our badges proudly, but much as some won't always want to wear a pride badge in public I do want to hide my badge pride in some situations.
I believe the system works best if we can optionally hide specific badges by server, and also choose their visibility in general as to whether we want friends to see those badges or not. I accept anyone that adds me initially to see if they want help. But after multiple blackmail attempts the last one resulting in images of my son being stolen I feel it is time we should be able to secure our public image just a bit.

I can see why this is a good idea. It sucks that people attacked you and wanted free nitro.

Ultimately account security is our responsibility, but having now been talking to support for a week since it happened while the perpetrator is out there with my personal information still (and on discord) I think it would be a nice addition to prevent people from targetting strangers. If they hadn't been able to see my badges, they wouldn't have known to target me specifically.
I figure if we can prevent the attacks we can prevent the need for Support to investigate. The slow response I expect is necessary but given the nature of the threats its, disheartening to see how long this process is actually taking.Providing more securty/privacy of our account badges would make it much harder for them to find targets.
