Nitro ad notification

Discord recently began displaying a notification on my Direct Messages icon, as though I had a new message or request, even though I had no new DMs and no incoming friend/message requests. After weeks of this apparent phantom notification, I discovered that it was not for a relevant piece of communication at all--Discord simply wanted me to click on the ad for Nitro. Once I viewed the Nitro ad, the notification went away. 

This specific UI decision has not increased my desire to subscribe to Nitro. It has, in fact, significantly decreased my likelihood of ever subscribing to any premium Discord feature in the future, because I strongly resent tactics that nag users with ads misleadingly presented as relevant information. Please stop doing this.
