Option to remove "Active Now" sections on both Desktop and Mobile
On Desktop when on the “Friends” tab (the default landing spot for opening the app or after closing a DM) on the right hand side of the screen there is an “Active Now” tab where I can see people on my friends list currently playing a game. I think this feature should be toggle-able.
I think with all forms of social media it's healthy for somebody to be able to decide what information they're comfortable with knowing. Although some sites try to throw as much of that in our face as possible.
I'm aware some other people have mentioned this before, but those threads are old and do not include the new mobile app redesign where a similar “Active Now” section takes up the top space of DM's. Similarly I think all things like this should be toggle-able as there are any number of reasons somebody wouldn't want to know all that information.
In fact the mobile version is more bothersome as it takes up the top section of DM's making it nearly impossible to avoid. On desktop you avoid it by not closing a DM you're currently in but on mobile it's up top nearly the whole time. This seems worse as it sort of instigates FOMO if someone is away from home and unable to join something. Why even put it there in the first place? Half of the time the mobile version just shows the emoji of a friend's status.
