Revert the update, launch open beta for new UI
The new UI clearly did not receive any meaningful testing prior to release, and the overwhelmingly poor reception to it proves that.
The simplest method for Discord to save face now is to revert the update (priority 1). Then, as soon as the update has been reverted, start working on an ‘open beta’ for the new UI (priority 2). Then, during this beta, proactively solicit feedback from the community, and actually update the UI based on feedback received. This beta might take some time, yes, but it would end up being much more positively received by the user base than this current trainwreck (assuming you actually iterate on it, in this proposed open beta, based on user feedback).
So, get the update reverted pronto, then start sorting out an open beta.
