Mobile Layout adds more work for the user

There are a lot of posts about the new mobile layout update, very understandably in my opinion. But I have one major issue with this update. I use discord for servers and DMs about equally. Instead of having my unread servers/DMs in one handy place where I can switch easily between them, you've walled them off from each other and made more work for me and users like me.

Every time I get a message from a friend, I have to first click into the messages center, then click on the friend. Before I could just see that I received a message from that friend and click directly to it. Why did you add more clicks? What was the advantage to making this more complicated?

In my opinion, UI updates should be to make the app easier to use for the user, and you've made it more time consuming and confusing. A single click doesn't seem like a lot but I use discord a lot and now I'm wasting my time just clicking for no reason.

Please help me to understand how this adds any value whatsoever to your app.

    100% agree this is my main issue with it as well

    Agreed. It means more loading times as well which means more chances for it to get hung up and freeze for several seconds

    hard agree. 

    i suspect this is related to why so many disabled users are complaining - the new ui requires a lot of extra unnecessary input, over much more of the screen and more precisely executed, where the old ui flowed really well and was useable enough for people with hand/arm mobility issues to get by comfortably from there with speech to text. 

    the new ui isn't just clunky and making more work for normal people, it's actually straight up less accessible to it's disabled userbase. those extra clicks actually change a lot.

    +1 on the more precise input required. I've hit the screen just a little wrong at times and jumped from the DM list to the server list and then back to a random DM somehow. I don't even have dexterity issues that affect me enough to cause issues.

    Agreed. There's a lot of clunkiness and legwork to do simple functions in this app now. Extremely frustrating.

    fully agree, worst update so far and I feel horrible for the disabled users having more work with the app to even get around anymore

    Absolutely agreed. This clunkiness is utterly inaccessible for everyone.
