Accessibility issues with new layout
There are many threads/posts reporting problems. Let me just give my few cents.
During the day, I want to use light mode. Yes, I'm a light mode user. I am used to black letters on white paper. I work in an environment with lights, and white(ish) walls, etc. I am familiar with research that shows the least eye strain comes with devices emitting light at about the same level as the background, so my computer monitors are set to their lowest levels, my phones are set pretty dark, etc. And indoors, that works – my screens are about the same as my walls, my desk, my papers, etc.
But at night? When the lights are off, and I'm in bed? My phone goes into dark mode. And most programs hapily adjust to dark mode when I put my phone into dark mode.
Discord used to do this. And I can understand the idea of “here's a choice of a better dark mode theme”.
But that's not what we got. We did not get “Choose the dark mode you want to use”. Nor did we get “Here's a new option for light mode”. Instead, we got “Select one mode to use all the time. You can't auto-change anymore. You can't actually adjust the theme to what you want. We give you *exactly one* choice for light, and *exactly two* choices for dark, and you are forced to keep that no matter what you're doing with your phone”.
** You have demonstrated the ability to have multiple dark modes**.
So now, give us multiple choices for light. Or let us choose our own settings.
**WHY DO YOU GET TO TELL US WHAT WE ARE PERMITTED TO DO?!? **
