Stop changing the UI
Do not change anything about the UI. Do not add icons, do not rearrange sections of content, do not change colors or font. Do not change the UI. Stop changing the UI. Fix bugs instead, or add abilities that definitely weren't there before. The UI is fine.
Devs or managers are pretending to be useful by making some bullshit change to the UI. They can pretend that it was an improvement because there's no objective thing to show that it's not. They can just pull some random statistics or opinions of some designer claiming it's better, and they keep doing that constantly forever and ever. The UI has not improved atall for years, it's just been shuffling around and recoloring or refonting itself. They are trying to stop people from realizing they are garbage at their jobs.
But I hate when the UI changes. People are like “why do you hate it, it doesn't hurt or affect you” but it is so aggravating. It's like if your parents randomly rearrange all the furniture in your room while you're away. Please stop doing this. I am used to the way things are, it feels like my own personal space, and it is familiar. New discord thingies like “Check out our latest style!” is all so corporate and gross feeling. Just stay away from me. Do not try to improve the style. Just make products that work. I am not here for the aesthetic colors. I am waiting for many features that are lacking, and I would like actual progress on this site, instead of pestering nuisances like “oh this button's over here now. the font looks different. we changed the icons. your dms and your servers are in different places now so you can't view at all your talking areas in one place. etc”
Do not change the UI. Never change the UI again. Reverse the latest changes. Stop wasting your productivity and worsening the site. Whoever is in charge of these changes is an incompetent fraud.

Agreed. At very least, make it a toggle-based feature. I love some of the new updates they added. Ability to see messages when offline? Love that. Faster opening and loading times, with more stability? Heck yeah. A custom soundboard sound when you enter a vc? Sign me up!
But the requirement that I change the entire UI in order to access these changes is a dealbreaker for me. It looks like any other generic, essentially meaningless social media app. They've alienated almost half of their userbase, and for what? “A fresh new look”? Great, then make it the default, with an opt-out of that UI hidden down in settings. I don't mind looking for it, I just need it to be there.
They're claiming this is for the sake of the users, but it seems very much for the sake of the company. The users are speaking and you're ignoring us, discord. Own up to that, or change behaviour. You used to be so good with user engagement.
