The Update is Terrible

This new update from 12/7/2023 has ruined the mobile experience. It loads everything slower, there is a different UI glitch every time I open the app, from messages not removing from the chat bar when sending, to channels not registerin when you switch between them (go from #general to #pics and it still shows general chat), to messages freezing the app and then sending 6 times when you reopen it. I should not have to force close the app every time i open it to bypass a bug. A six year old couldve coded this better. 

 

Furthermore, the UI update itself is UGLY. The colour scheme is ruined and completely garbage (even your ‘alternative colour schemes’), having to tap the top banner to see channel info is unintuitive when everyone has muscle memory to swipe for it. You even kept the swipe opening the side bar the other direction to make it even more unintuitive. Are you people even human? Like, clearly this was designed by someone who doesn't have hands because they'd be like “Wow this feels terrible in my hands” if they did. 

What's even more insulting is your disgusting approach to “customer service” in that you've essentially told everyone with these complaints “suck it up, you're just too dumb to understand the changes yet." I also have seen evidence of your company deleting negative reviews from the app store. I also see many generic positive reviews since the update from accounts with suspicious names and profile pics, that always seem to get a response. This looks suspicious to me and I honestly think you're fabricating positive reviews while deleting bad ones. Even with this, your apps rating is down to THREE POINT SIX on the app store. Is that not a sign for you? Does it not speak volumes that your app is now rated lower than a poorly made gacha game?   

 

Honestly, I'm doubtful that anyone from discord will even read this, but I'm livid. I'll be writing feedback and reviews stating just how bad this update is until it's fixed or I find an alternative. And I'm looking for an alternative. Your company deserves to die for this update and your response to the communities feedback.

    Yea this was a huge mistake.. I'm done with them if this version sticks around. I'm not waiting to leave, I'm gone now. I'll check in on occasion to see if they fix it, and keep complaining here in hopes of getting my favorite messenger back from the dead, but that's all.

    Guilded is a pretty good alternative, and Revolt is a clone with more features, without having to pay for the extra. The latter is in early development though (but still usable!)
