Ability to hide the contact list?

When scaling the UI or using discord on a smaller screen, the contact list/friends list causes the chat to be very squished on the right hand side. Now of course I could reduce the UI scaling and it would solve this, but I think it would be nice to have the ability to hide the friends list if not needed. 

It would just be nice also to have the chat in a bigger window vs always having the friends list showing, this also allows for better flexibility in resizing discord as a whole. Currently due to the friends list being permanently enabled there is only a finite amount you can reduce the size of discord window as a whole also.

    By contact/friends list, do you mean the list of DMs which are currently open? I feel the same way, it would be nice if it could be toggled to hide it, to have more space for the chat.

    Shrew  Yes, where it lists like “Friends, Nitro, Shop” then your currently open DMS, then your profile quick edit thingy.

    I googled “Discord Feature Request” to post this exact thing,  and created an account just to upvote this post. When using split screen, I can't resize discord to usable dimensions because the left-hand sidebar locks the window size. I often want to copy and paste stuff from my browser onto discord chats. With the current UI, Discord ends up larger than my browser window, which feels like wasted space since I'm paying most attention to the stuff I'm reading about and only looking at chats for a few seconds at a time to paste info.
