Server & User Icons have become difficult to focus on

Context

  As of the date of this post, 2025-03-26, changes to the UI have rolled out to my system.  I enjoy the majority of these changes, and love that I can even shift the channel list (thanks for that).

  I have difficulty reading/parsing text and images if they are too bunched up.

Problem

  But, the new UI has shrunk server and user icons enough that it has become difficult for me to focus on or glance through them.

Ask

  For a setting to be introduced that allows the user to control the size and spacing of server icons.  Something similar to the controls for chat font scale and spacing would do it.

Attempts to fix this individually

• Appearance > Scaling > Chat Font Scaling
  • 16px is the default
  • 20px is my current and historic setting. I have not changed it in some time, but toggled it back and forth to make sure there wasn't a new functionality that would kick in. But, no dice.
  • Additionally, Chat Font Scaling only affects chat fonts. It does not noticeably affect other font sizes.
• Appearance > Scaling > Zoom Level
  • 100 is the default, and where I usually leave it.
  • I've tried a combination of Chat Font Scales and Zoom Levels to see if there was some combination that worked for me.
  • Problem: When you increase the general zoom, white space also increases, leading to a cramped UI space.
• Adjusting the resolution of my screen (as suggested by Support: Ticket #53980368)
  • Has better results than Zoom Levels, but this messes up the settings for other applications on computer.
  • After some fiddling I found I end up in a state where I either have to let Firefox and VS Code in an odd state of appearance or leave Discord in an odd state of appearance.
  • As I rely on Firefox and VS Code for personal work, I can't have them in a state where reading things is awkward.
• Using Discord within Firefox (as suggested by Support: Ticket #53980368)
  • Some merit to this, as I can adjust the CSS myself without having to do funny things to the downloaded client.
  • But, monkey patching the Firefox client every time I wish to use Discord would become tiresome.
  • I would prefer to continue using the native client, as it has better integrations with notifications and system fonts.
