+1 When will this be implemented? I need to have a different profile picture for each server.

It's because we are not entitled to it that some are willing to pay. It may be a general request to you, Re-Crix. Personally, I like this app. I am willing to give them money. But currently there is no reason to do so. The additional services are not overly useful to the servers I'm on. If this feature were added, that would top the scale. There's obviously some others out there like me. They've posted here. There seems to be an even split on this thread, or maybe a few more in the Nitro corner.

But how about a compromise? Make separate avatars available on boosted servers. That way you personally don't have to pay, but Discord can get some money for those servers that require a bit more storage space.

I really need this feature, i'm in multiple servers with different levels of formality, some for work, some for friends, some for strangers.

Yes. if this was possible.. even if it was only one or two different servers.. that would already be a major blessing.

How exactly is this not implemented yet? Being a developer myself this should be tops 2 days work at most... seriously this request is over a year old...

@[10F] Prime Lorca the storage space would be very minimal if they are optimising images before storing.

I'm genuinely confused as to how this feature has not been added given that the request is a year old and one of the most upvoted/replied to requests I've seen in the support forums. It can't possibly be that hard to implement and literally everyone wants it. I don't think a single person would sit here and say "No I don't see a need for that."

There is only one possible explanation. They have been writing really sloppy code since day one and never got to clean it up and now it is so bad that it is impossible to make the simplest of feature adjustments. This is actually quite common in software and is often why new companies and products so easily overtake established companies and products. At this point I'm going to predict that a competitor will rise up that has this feature and will completely eclipse Discord long before Discord is able to implement it. That's just the nature of the software business. Discord's technical debt must be so high that they are about to fade away as another has been.

This would be an extremely nice feature to have. Fully supported

For me this would be an extremely useful feature.

As many people have already alluded to, a different avatar for certain servers would be best given the content of that server (perhaps a funnier avatar than your typical go-to would be best for a memes server). It's also sometimes handier for the likes of certain gaming communities (most notably role-play communities) to be able to identify you by a certain game-face or other identification outwith your typical discord avatar. I happen to be one of those people who would benefit from this.

A third point however — and one that a lot of people haven't yet brought up — is the ability for discord to be able to have dual functionality across both the gaming/internet world of communities and real life application. Right now, I'm sure it wouldn't be contested that discord is primarily use for gamers or other internet-based communities OR a real life application. These aren't typically interchangeable with the current state-of-play, because gamers don't want to have real-life friends/business partners/colleagues etc see their gaming picture, and on the flip side, real-life entities don't want to have their real life face being seen by the likes of potential strangers on the internet.

Alas, by introducing this feature, you not only improve the functionality of discord and allow for gaming communities to enhance their operations through it's use, but you extend the use and feasibility for discord across platforms that you may not have originally been targeting.

I don't like the thought of it being a nitro only feature. The ability to distinguish yourself properly across the channels should be a basic feature.

Does Discord even consider any suggestions made on this website? I think if they add this feature, then it will be better than Slack in every way so maybe Slack is paying Discord to not implement this feature. At this point a plausible explanation of not implementing this feature could also be some conspiracy or something obscure... I feel we are wasting our time here...

Hey guys, don't forget to have your friends (and their friends) upvote this one. Currently it's #17 on the "Account & Server Management" page, so it's unlikely it will be added as long as it's not nearer to the top of votes.

Definitely a feature that would be useful, particularly for RPG based servers

Please implement this! Everyone wants it, even if it's something we have to pay for.

I'd love to see this feature get implemented!

In the interest of being more specific, here are the places I've found I'd have used this feature if it was available:

    1) Game specific:  Sometimes you want to show a particular screenshot or avatar depending on the theme of the game the discord is built around.

    2) Role play:  I'm participating in role play communities across 2 games, plus tabletop.  If I could have a picture of my main character per server I'm using, it would help newer people identify who I am between the game and the discord, even if I dont have my discord nickname set to my character.

Thanks in advance to anyone that gives this a read.  Discord is great!  Props to the OP for being the one to put this forward first.

Absolutely throwing in my support (for whatever it counts) toward this! I play multiple MMO's and RP on all of them. I'm in a couple servers and people on one server know me for my character (pictured as my avatar) in one MMO. But people in my other servers have no idea who that's supposed to be because I play an entitly different character on that game. I'd love for the ability to change my avatar to the appropriate character per server!

Looks like Discord is turning a blind eye to this :-(

First post was about a year ago...

It's quite tragic that it appears to be ignored. I follow this thread because I want the feature that badly. I up-vote every post that is positive about getting server-based pictures. I've got $100 set aside in case they implement the idea.

    Keeping my fingers crossed... 🤞

Hello devs! Can you please work sth out? It’s frustrating that being in different groups, you can only have 1 common avatar. Thanks for looking into this!

Maybe have the usual discord avatar in a small circle next to the server avatar?
