I support this. At the moment, even if you have a server muted with @here and @everyone suppressed, people can still message you with your roles or username, which is still rather annoying.

A server mute should do exactly that: It should completely mute the server. Discord should at least give users the option to suppress @role or @username, similar to suppressing @here and @everyone.

How is this still not implemented?!

Instead of adding this simple feature, they have decided to add a money making feature called Nitro Server Boosting. Sad.

Just make it mentionable when you want to mention it, you could even get a bot to do this,

Have the bot make it mentionable, mention it, then make it unmentionable as quick as you can

Totally agree. This must be added.

P L E A S E  make this happen, driving me nuts how I keep getting 5-10 pings from servers. Can't remove my role (it's auto-added). Can't do anything except leave the discord. We need this feature!

Please add this ASAP. I want to only receives Pings personally adressed to me specifically, I disabled @everyone/here on every server I'm on. Guess what? Role-Mentions break the possibility to only receive personal pings D:

Why there is 1800+ upvotes and still nothing done about this, and that is 7 months after :( . Is there something that is mentioned somewhere that they are working on something ?

In light of a server I'm currently in tagging a role to frequently as of late I've given my vote for this..
I know one can simply request for the role to be removed but in some instances such as game testers, unless you want to resign that's not really an option.

Darn, I was really hoping they'd fix this by now. I am in a serer where we get pings really often. I've suppressed @here and @everyone for sanity sake and muted certain channels, but then they go and get a bot to mention @member instead of just the roles it pertains to. Like...you have @everyone and @here and you go around that and do a role that we can't even get out of?

Please allow us to specify which roles we want to be able to hear mentions from. I know there is a get no mentions at all, not even direct pings to me, but sometimes in that channel, the mention matters, like if it's specifically mentioning me or a role I actually signed up for...but if it's a role I'm assigned and can't have it removed, it means I can't get out of getting mentions for things that don't even pertain to me unless I mute the channels 1 by 1 depending the level of importance, or just mute the whole server and get no notifications, not even those directly at me.

Please allow us to decide which roles we get mentions from, or at least allow us to pick an option to only get pinged if they mention you personally, and not one of the roles you have been assigned by a server owner. Yeah, I know server owners can make roles not able to be individually mentioned...but they mentioned the role to get everyone, even those who suppress @here and @everyone.

Please discord fix this! I'm sure you can see that it's an issue if people actually search up how to do it and find this post and even log in just to post a reply. Look at all the up votes and comments! This is something we want. If your users aren't happy, they won't continue to be discord users.

Looks like Discord really doesn't care anymore about community. 8 months and still nothing. No quotes. No option to select several message to delete them after that (I'm sick of deleting msgs one by one). And all they care about is their Nitro shit. I wanted to buy this Nitro before, but now, I just will not do that principally because I WILL NOT sponsor company that don't give a shit about community requests. Especially since it was their cool feature and now they forgot about it and just don't care.

Kind of confusing on what you want.

why is adding more emote slots to servers more important than core functions such as this?

Yep definitely bumping this up! Would be great if we could mute all notifications from a server.

In old feedback forum, i've been suggesting to add 'Mute @roles' for channels, next to 'Mute #channel'. Even though, i think that 'Mute Channel' supposed to disable @role mentions

I am myself member of some servers. And there are some themed channels i prefer to mute and silence, since they are 100% no need for me

But when someone mentions my role in those channels, even Muted and Hidden from the channel list on server, even when notifications set to Nothing and whole Server is in Mute state, that channel still PINGS ME @ROLENOTIFICATION.

Even with Hide Muted Channels is on, that channel appears in list just to annoy me with useless notification in channel i am not interested to be in.

I'm in a server which uses this as an advertising space. They offer advertisers an @role mention ad for money. In the same manner, they offer users the role removal for money so they don't get notified. I don't know whether it's against Discord's rules, but it sure is annoying.

I'd leave that server. If they're trying to make money off of people being annoyed by pings and not being annoyed by pings, one sure fire way to not get annoyed by pings is to leave the server. It's free too!

There's only so much you can do though, I joined a server and within 48 hours left it because they had 8 different roles assigned to people and the mods were constantly spamming notifications in different channels for different events which had no relevance to me, Its wrong that I cannot control turning them off, I found putting discord into streamer mode stops the annoying beeps but the unread notifications down the sides don't go away. But that's the only bypass I can find Its dumb that this is a forced implementation.

Maybe if we spam the discussion board with this topic, they'll actually do something about it...or just ban us because they don't care.

This is probably the thing I hate most about discord. Get pings every day from servers for games I love to play, but don't want the pings for. I ask them to change their pinging system, but they want people to listen to them so they force ping you.

  • Parabellum

Still nothing. So you implement a feature which you think is good for server owners, without foreshadowing any sort of issue with abuse of that system.

You make it so that people cannot remove their assigned roles, then you make the roles circumvent any server notification settings such as suppress @everyone and @here.

Its beginning to feel like this is an intended feature to piss people off and drive people back to other competitors, Discord may be great but while @Role mentions are still a thing, I'll never sub to Nitro, I'll never support discord and your store front, I If you want to shit on community members by ignoring a simple request due to abuse of a system YOU designed you deserve to be held with nothing but contempt.

9 months => nothing, it's just another toggle button to supress roles. Contact me if you lack of programmers I will do it for free.
