Btw, there's no reason the new light theme, old light theme, dark theme, and everything else couldn't be a preset. Even Disco Fever.

i saw several threads talking about client-side hexcode customissation which linked back to here desspite client themes and server themes being two very different things. regardless, a custom hexcode theme in which the user would be able to Personalize disscord by having an option to change each default hexcode (or at the Very Leasst the entire colour palette) would be very nice.

I'm personally thinking that it would be great to have themes and not the standard black&White better discord has some nice themes but is against the TOS, which I think is okay but I would not be happy if the themes would be for nitro users only I am self a nitro user (not classic the new one) so I would not have the problem when its just for nitro but still I think everybody should have a customised Discord appearance.

I just want to say no one here should be open to the idea of paying for client side theming because unlike other nitro features which are server-side CSS theming is completely client-side and whether the discord developers like it or not client side theming is already possible the whole point is that we want them to make official theme in like what is already in BetterDiscord but let me remind you that better discord already exists and is already free

I think it should be a clientside feature with an upload button in the appearance section of the settings or something so we could create our own themes to use or download ones online that were designed by others.

Although, like ~エリアス・ロッシン~  said above, if the feature is actually implemented any time soon, it'll probably just be locked behind a paywall sadly, knowing our luck. (Nitro exclusive, maybe a premade theme store, idk.)

If Discord does decide to take the paywall route, I think they should have it be so non-nitro users can freely upload static themes and have animated ones be a nitro feature like animated emotes are.

I also agree with MaHI111's "strapped CSS" idea, full customizability of the layout would be a nice thing to have, but it is probably unlikely to be implemented. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also please add so that you can have a main theme on like every server by default! :)

You are right, this would be a great idea.

For example, color in discord instead of just dark and light.

a nice fully transparent theme would be nice for all platforms so you can see your lovely homescreen on discord :)

This is the logs of the conversation between me and a staff member regarding betterdiscord and if its bannable to use.

    Me:
    Hello Discord!

I am contacting you today regarding some questions I have about BetterDiscord. What sort of punishments do you carry out for people who use this program? Are users allowed to use this program? because I've seen several tweets from Discord saying it ISNT against TOS
and some saying that it is against TOS
I'd love some clarification as far as all of this goes and I'd love it if you could respond as soon as possible with as much information as possible regarding this subject, Thank you!

    Discord (Joshua):
Thanks for reaching out. As stated in our API documents here, using self-bots is forbidden and against our terms of service, as any improper use can result in damage done to our API. Additionally, 3rd party add-ons or plugins are also against Discord's Terms of Service (https://discordapp.com/terms). Our automated backend system will flag any bots being used to spam and for suspicious activity, and the user who the bot is attached to via IP will get banned.

Generally, we don't seek out users using better discord, but some of the features, including embeds, are accomplished through selfbotting and may lead to banning. Ultimately, if you understand the potential risks then it's up to you if you choose to use it or not.

I hope that clears it out. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

    Me:
if I am "reported" for using BetterDiscord will I be punished? I don't really see a reason to ban someone for doing stuff like this, I know tons of people who use it simply for cosmetic purposes.

    Discord(Joshua):
If you will be reported for using BetterDiscord, in case you missed it, we don't drop the ban hammer just for the sake of it. We do an investigation and if your actions with the use of BetterDiscord deem as a violation of the ToS, then appropriate sanction will be applied. Also, please note that any issue within the app that may arise while BetterDiscord is used will not be supported. Once more, improper use of any 3rd party application may result in damage to our own API.

If you need clarification or have any other questions, just let me know here.

    Best,
    Joshua

So from what it sounds, you can use it for cosmetic purposes only
    HOWEVER
I don't condone the usage because its not supported and if something breaks, its on you
Also its a major security risk, you don't know who you're giving your Discord information to. So if you accept and understand the risk, whether you choose to use it or not, is up to you.

How many upvotes does this need to become a feature in discord?

I found this because somebody in our group just asked how can you change it from black on black because that makes scrolling very hard.  Frankly, I don't know why that was made a default. Heralds have known for hundreds of years at least the principle of what tincture to put on what tincture.  White and yellow work on dark or medium dark purple, green, red, black, blue, brown (if you must), or you can do it visa versa. There's a reason text is usually black on white, because it stands out.  Look at the logo for virtually any major company, and you'll see this rule of tincture used (although some do it with a contrasting outline).

If there's going to be a default, I think it should at least be changed to one that's easy to distinguish.

This from Wikipedia on Rule of tincture:

    "Modern design principle

"The rule of tincture has had an influence reaching far beyond heraldry. It has been applied to the design of flags, so that the flag of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach was modified to conform to the rule. Pragmatically, it is a useful rule of thumb for the design of logos, icons and other symbols."

would also be nice to have server specific themes (that could be disabled if someone doesn't like seeing the theme)

who uses discord light theme amirite?

Maybe it sends a request to the client saying "Hey this has a custom theme, would you like to download it?" and you'd have the choice.

Cross-site scripting through CSS is available though http://www.tralfamadore.com/2008/08/xsstc-cross-site-scripting-through-css.html, so the Discord team would either just make it customisable from the app without CSS or they would have to attempt to block all known cross-site scripting.

Would love any customization that allows us to hide/remove/not automatically open to the toxic activity tab!

All you have to say Alden Loveshade is that You and your friend have trouble seeing the dark tones of discord. Not an entire lecture to people who probably already obtained their degrees... Also what is the brightness/ contrast on the monitor itself btw? Changing that may help you see darker tones.

You can already do that. Your discord server must be a partner or this... read links below.

    https://discordapp.com/partners or https://discordapp.com/verification

I think, discord made it that they only get these for safety reasons or something.

I think this would be a cool idea, although if that actually was an option I think they should add more things it affects.
