Nested Categories
Please add a function where you can add categories in categories so one could organize their server somewhat like so:
==Guild==
↓ Music
# chat one
# chat two
↓ Gaming
↓ Minecraft
# screenshots
# chat
↓ CS:GO
# screenshots
🔊 voice chat
I recently thought of an option for a very wide-purposed discord server, with a whole lot of channels. Since they are so hard to navigate without Nested Categories, one option would be to make a #contents channel right at the top of your server, where you can make a pretty markdown message with channel mentions so people can easily get to them. until nested categories are a thing, this is one solution (not a good one but it's better than nothing).

This could lowkey be used for Nitro too: it could up the amount of categories inside categories depending on the nitro level starting out w’ 2
Ex)
Regular:
-category a:
-subcategory a1
-subcategory a2
-ect...And nitro would just be that but extending the sub category-seption. This would put a limit on something that could virtually break servers if used poorly and help make a profit. (As well as be beneficial because many people have asked for this as far as I know :0)
Im currently working on a project and using a discord server as a kinda database, somewhere to talk to people about plot and store info about chars/ plot and it’s become significantly longer and harder to navigate the more I've needed to add, its the reason I came here in the first place and why I support it. Organization for projects like that is key so nothing gets lost ect ect.
it’s also beneficial to other sever types as well? Or just larger servers in general so everything is nice and compartmentalized, because it’d again, serve as an easier means of navigation if you where to make the main categories in bold text and the sub categories in the regular one and whatnot.
Im not sure if this has been rejected or not but what can u do regardless >:P

Desperately in need of this. Servers inevitably reach a point where single-level categories still become cluttered.

Wow this has been suggested for years and still nothing updated? :/ I was just looking to see how to do it, could have sworn they said we could not long ago. Guess not.

@unmog FEARIV is right. They made "Folder Categories" to organize the servers that you are an active participant in, which had A LOT of people excited, thinking that they finally did THIS instead of that.
We're just gonna be stuck waiting and posting for this...

Yea, I want folders for server channels, not the servers themselves. That way I could have say, an RP channel, and then different categories within the rp channel for different rps. :/

I've been waiting on this for a while. It's been pushed to the back of my mind since I'd closed the larger servers I ran, but I'm beginning to set up a megaserver to reduce the amount of bots I have to pay for. Most people inside the server won't even know how many categories I've set up, and the only way for me to minimize the amount of sub-servers/categories I'm not participating in taking up so much space would be "father" collapsible categories. I would SO love for this to be implemented.

If I'm not wrong this is something that multiple people have been frequently asking for, why has there not been any comment on it, I run a RP system hosted on discord and have been preying for Sub Cat's for ages. would love to see it come added ASAP.

I am proposing discord team to work on that, release it and add it to only servers that are getting BOOSTED. This is the way to get the job done and have your ppl payed out of it as well.
I am 100% sure that the amount of servers that will get boosted will be huge with this subcategory thingy. :D-8 -
@Goldelian thats a terrible idea! the servers that need this the most are RP servers and other servers that aren't technically a community, they dont need server boosts and shouldnt be required to pay for a feature that shouldve been added 3 years ago.

@Goldelian DO NOT MAKE IT A BOOST THING PLEASE. Most RP servers don't get boosted as people don't need to. Of course there are the rare servers that get boosted but do not do that

I concur. I run a huge RP server, and we're only first level boosted because the owner and I find it worth it for better voice quality. But the majority of our users aren't going to boost, and our user base drops in and out of activity based on school, work, etc. It would be untenable to have set up functionality like subcategories, then have them disabled if activity dropped during finals.

Oh come on. No one boosts servers anyways, and the kinds of servers that would use this feature are less likely to be the big, boosted servers anyways.

This would be a greatly appreciated feature. I am in several servers where collapsed categories still take up a lot of room, while hiding muted channels would be a detriment due to channels that are better to mute but keep, such as channels dedicated to bot commands.

yeeeeeeeeees this needs to be done so bad! My Discord is littered with categories and it just looks huge and messy. Nested Categories would clean this right up! I don't even care if it's barred behind a nitro sub I"ll do it!
