^ Same. Would love to see this become implemented soon.

how is this still not a thing? But anyway, can anyone help me create such channels, that will automatically be muted for everyone, since they're, for example, only for music controls, and literally only ever relevant to the people in the chat itself. How do I achieve this? Because right now every single person in the server has to manually mute such a channel to achieve this.

Especially useful for bot-command exclusive text channels.

This absolutely needs to be set up. It's mind blowing that we don't have an opt-in feature, and instead have to rely on opting-out. This definitely needs to be implemented. PLEASE!

There is this option that has been available for a while... Though preferably I would like to set this up by category/channel but hey, @everyone or @here exist for a reason.

Seriously? It's Almost May 2020 and we still can't mute notifications for a server channel as admin... I don't want 3 people pissing off 300 people because they're issuing commands to a bot...

@ShadowMartin-X: this is your individual settings, not an admin setting for the channel. Not the same thing.

@metomorphose no is not, this is under settings for the SERVER not your individual settings. I underlined the word server on the picture below. Unless you have an admin role or permissions you won't be able to access this area in any server. And it does mute notifications, I tested a couple weeks ago with a new server I created. No this is not the ideal solution, never claimed it is. Yes this is a server wide mute and not a channel by channel mute. But if you have complaints from people that claim they get too many notifications this is still a work around. The original post asked for a setting that would "allow for better separation from announcement type channels". Since we don't have that yet, what you can do is mute the server, and always use @everyone or @here. Or do what bigger servers do, create an @announcements role and have people opt in to the role using a bot. Hell you could do that for every channel you've created if you wanted to.

Look I'm not saying this is a solution, is a work around. I would still like for Discord to give this option as it is much easier. But instead of complaining like everyone else I decided to post a work around. If it works for you, great.|

This would be really helpful for my relatively quiet server that has a channel using bot commands.

@ShadowMarin-X - My bad, I skimmed. You are right. However, this is an all or nothing approach, which is not really a "work-around" for this request. We have a relatively low-volume server, so to mute everything unless someone is tagged mutes way too much. We're just trying to filter out bot channel noise for bots we actually like having around.

    Upping this!

Would be super helpful for admins to mute certain (bot commands) channels by default for all members.

Let's all also upvote the original post for better recognition.

    This is needed.

This would be a fantastic addition. I think SO many servers would benefit from this. It would be a way to keep things around while not "hearing" from them. Please work on this ASAP :)

Discord, this thread has been going for two years. Its not a hard implementation to make, and there are obviously many people who would benefit from it. I literally cant add certain bots because people in my server have different tastes all around and sadly very little patience. Why can i not simply server mute a channel of my choosing, as the admin? This is a feature that should have been in since the beginning.

@Shadow Martin-X While i can appreciate and respect you input on a workaround, this thread is specifically for channels within a server, not an entire server mute. I do not care about muting my entire sever. Just muting spammed channels that some would like, while others would not.

Yes. We are inviting more and more people from outside to our server and the amount of chatter is for most overwhelming. And we don't have a lot of time to explain to them to mute all channels before they completely lose interest and attention.

Adding my support to this. Our bot commands channel annoys the hell out of people when I have to put a bunch of commands in when a music bot goes wrong and gets stuck in a channel. You can make private text channels for debugging but when it's a bot that only listens to a single channel (ie a music bot) this isn't an option. Please add this!!!

This needs to be a thing. An individual channel should be able to be created with some kind of "muted for everyone by default" status, and just let every user override that setting if they choose to.

i agree! i added a quote bot to my server to quote funny things my friends and I say, but I don't need everyone to be notified every time someone does !quote, and about a quarter of the users on the server only downloaded discord specifically to join the server, so they don't know how to mute or do anything.

Currently circumventing this in my tccasanova server by creating roles for channels I hide, but this would be so much simpler. I hope this is at least on the table for potential updates, I love darker dark mode, but this is definitely more important.
