Message Threads
CompletedHi Discord Team and dear reader!
This would be a feature request for Message Threads, like we can see on Slack.
As a matter of fact, when sending messages in a crowded channel (+15ppl) conversations can easily get lost in the mix. Message threads solve this issue by creating a "sub-channel" on the message that initiated the thread, allowing participants to continue their conversation without spamming the main channel and allowing other users to do the same.
Thanks a lot,
loving Discord!

Yes please.

My company is trying to use Discord now that we're WFH and threads is the only thing that we all agree would be of extreme importance.
We're still using Discord nevertheless, but our quality of life with such a feature would skyrocket!I know Discord was first meant to be a gaming app, but with companies working from home nowadays and this being one of the best apps out there in terms of usability, this feature is of great importance.

+1 still waiting for this feature!

I would like to propose discord to my company but we need threads before to leave slack.

You can probably just quote the message and tag the person....

@kibbenkat, entirely defeats the purpose - the point (or part of it) is to reduce clutter in channels & notification noise.
2 -
threading it is one of the features that is missing...

PSA: Please actually login and up vote this rather than leaving a '+1' comment or similar.
2 -
We still don't have threads? Really? How sad. Logged in and voted. Please do the same.

Threads like SLACK has (at least the option -- even if it's paid) are desperately needed and would reduce the main pain of Discord (which I love -- but man, discussions are a mess).
I logged in and voted up this feature request. Please do the same.
2 -
Absolutely necessary thing. We (mates and I) planning to move from slack to discord, but because non-existence of threads half of friends are against it. Please add this very practical option and drive away our hesitancy :) I logged and vote also

Now Im not sure if i voted acttualy. I go to top of page, and press up arrow at this post which is request to Discord team. Is that a voting?
1 -
@Dekatron Yes, you have successfully upvoted the post when that up arrow turns blue. To downvote the post, click the bottom arrow.

Main question for me is why they ignore this request. This topic is old one year, i can see that have the most comments, but they do nothing. I doubt that is so hard to implement this option...
1 -
Discord isn't ignoring. They specifically said they won't comment on any potential features as they don't want to promise anything that turns out to not end up working out.

The practice of not mentioning your upcoming features and just surprise-releasing them is odd, folks. Most companies, when a significant feature is heavily requested, will let you know it's on the roadmap, at least.

Hey guys,
I did not share this before to not break hope but got this answer a while back (january)
https://twitter.com/jsmrcaga/status/1212849447337631752?s=19
@Dekatron i hope they changed their minds since then. It would _clearly_ be a game changer for them2 -
Ok, but they don't rejected that idea from what i realized in that answer on twitter. I think its important now to intesify our iniciative to maximum. Now, or never, i can feel it :)
1 -
Absolutely. I would even be willing to put some money in for this.

Maybe now it will be good idea that more people from this topic say/reply something on that facebook post/request...

+1 for threaded messages... please... thks
2 -
pretty please!!!! Threads, we need threads!

Threads would be a welcome feature. We wish to move a community of thousands of people over to Discord but have stopped only because of this feature.

In one chanel I have 2 friends (not 10 only 2) who have an exciting debate.
It completely polluted the chanel, whereas if it had been like on Reedit, a subject with a lot of message inside!2 -
Was considering to move here with our non-profit but we use slack threading a lot...

Florian: If you're looking for free alternatives to Slack with threading, you might want to look at the following:
:Microsoft Teams (but everyone has to get a Microsoft email address, also free)
:Zoho Cliq & Connect (Cliq actually has a rather different approach to threads, and you can use both of them together, along with the rest of the Zoho suite
:Doist Twist
:Samepage1 -
From what i saw zoho cliq had also limited number of messages (archive) in free version. For that reason i can't see that aplication is alternative that we looking. Main reason for move from slack to discord for example, is exactly that issue. Ok, discord also had another good advantages, but for chat purpose only slack is very good... besides that after 10000 messages u have to made new team from the scratch (if u want to have archive), and that is very annoying

Please, make it real

Already asked by many people, but I would love to use discord, but I disabled the app because the notification bombardment by the lack of thread support made using discord too annoying to switch my teams over to.
